Meeting called to order at 7:05

Minutes from 7-14 accepted.

Minutes from 7-19 amended: “Irene (not Laurie) reported the surveyor had completed the preliminary survey.” “There was a discussion of questions to pose to references.” Accepted as amended.

Sherry noted that there is a cost difference between a finished basement and an additional story in the fellowship hall. We should keep that in mind when entering into negotiations with a contractor.

It was noted that some architects might prefer to use a builder they know. However, the BT felt it would be in the best interests of the Church that if the membership chose to contract with an architect only, there should be an independent  BT investigation of builders while the architect begins the design and permitting process.

Suzette reported on the references she had contacted for Chuck Thomas (architect) and Peter Marren (architect.)

Beth reported on reviews found online of NE Custom Modular. She is waiting to hear back from references.

A discussion about NE Custom Modular followed; should the Building Team continue to pursue the proposal from NECM in light of ongoing issues with individuals from the membership? The BT felt her proposal was still worthy of consideration, though it may require extra oversight. It was noted again that members of the congregation be admonished not to visit any contractor’s job sites.

Beth, Donya and Suzette will continue to investigate references and online reviews for our next meeting.
