We have a legacy of “deeds not creeds.” Our work for a better world calls us to unexpected places as we harness love’s power to stop oppression. From grassroots community organizing to interfaith state, national, and corporate advocacy; in protest marches, prayer vigils, and press conferences; in homeless shelters and in prisons, Unitarian Universalists put our faith into action.

We support many efforts to be actively involved in our East End Community. There are various opportunities for service both as UUs and as a host to non-UU activities.

Our Social Action and 8th Principal Committee meets monthly on the 2nd Wednesday at 4 pm.  This group collaborates with many local non-profits, expands the impact of Sunday worship speakers, and spearheads participation in local events including Juneteenth and Gay Pride parades as well as WinterFest.

We host the non-partisan North Fork Action Center (NFAC) which meets on the 4th Sunday of the month at 4 pm.  NFAC grew out of the Women’s Rally in Mitchell Park in January 2025.  This gathering of individuals works for positive change across our community. All are welcome.

We support several organizations with our time, talent, and treasure, including Maureen’s Haven, CAST, Sound Justice Initiative and the North Fork Environmental Council (NFEC).  Our members are engaged working on a variety of causes, on local, national, and international levels.

There are many opportunities to provide service to our own congregation’s health and vitality. We organize art shows, host community dinners with music and poetry, provide a welcoming space for local non-profits, run educational seminars and encourage environmentally friendly activities such as nurturing a native plant garden.  We are open to new ideas and to making positive events happen at UUS.
