SUMMARY:Nature-based Solutions Workshop Series:  Part 3
DESCRIPTION:Mark Haubner\, President of North Fork Environmental Council\, 
 is offering a 6-week workshop series on Nature-based Solutions (NbS).  We
  hope you will join us for one or more of these informative\, action-orien
 ted programs.  Admission is Free.  The workshops may also be viewed live
  on YouTube\, or you may join via Zoom (contact Office@NFEC1.org for Zoom 
 link).\n\nPart 3 in the series\, combining two concepts\, is titled:  "Na
 ture Cools / Slow the Flow."\n\nIt sounds so simple that we can use a doze
 n Nature-based Solutions to both reduce the costs and trouble of "managing
 " stormwater by increasing our soil organic matter\; and by coupling these
  practices with thoughtful changes in design of our buildings\, we can ach
 ieve healthier and more sponge-like soils. Using time-proven planting meth
 ods and using them for as much bare soil as possible\, while expanding pol
 linator gardens to replace the monocrops of Modern Residential Turfgrass (
 “lawn”!)\, we can start to bring our bioregion’s temperatures down w
 ithin one growing season.\n\nThese are profound and impactful changes made
  at the local and bioregional levels\, and the participants in this worksh
 op will discover and adopt a dozen ways to Slow the Flow and see that Natu
 re Cools in their own communities. We will assess these techniques and dec
 ide on the social\, economic and environmental applications for the greate
